Faith is a frighteningly overweight Chiweenie who weighed almost 30 pounds. For her health and quality of life, Faith had to lose at least half of her current weight.
When Nioka, Faith’s foster mom, first saw her, Faith was so obese she can’t walk and move around correctly.
Faith came in the shelter as a stray. Nioka found out about the dog when a friend sent her Faith’s picture asking for help. Nioka’s first thought was how can someone put Faith in such a bad condition. Faith’s weight prevented her from enjoying life and just being free like other dogs.
Nioka could tell that Faith wanted to walk and do what her other dogs were doing. Her heavy body, however, would not let her. Nioka had to carry her around and everywhere.
At first, Nioka wasn’t sure if the diet and therapy were the right things to do but decided to trust the process for the dog’s sake. Faith started going to rehab three to four times a week. They also gave her proper meals. It was apparent that Faith was very motivated to lose weight and regain her life back.
Months passed, and Faith’s real personality shone through. As she lost more of her weight, Faith became more active, happy and became mobile. She started playing and would get up to get her toys herself. She also started running and was visibly happier than before.
Nioka was very proud of Faith’s every accomplishment. Back when she was overweight, Faith could only watch them go up the stairs from below. Now, Faith easily managed to go up the stairs like everyone else.
Thanks to Nioka and Faith’s own hard work, Faith is now able to maintain a healthy weight and active lifestyle. Faith is more active, healthier, and, most of all, happier and livelier.
