Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab Reform is an organization composed of volunteers dedicated to saving dogs. And when some of their volunteers went to a local shelter to see two dogs, they didn’t expect to meet another dog that needed their help even more. Kerry Anechiarice, one of the volunteers, saw how terrible the condition the dog was in and rushed it to their vet.
The tiny pup, which they first thought was a Chihuahua, weighed only 1.8 pounds. They later found out that he was a Pit Bull. Vets at the medical center discovered that the pup, which they named Stuart, was severely anemic due to a serious flea and tick infestation. He needed immediate blood transfusions.
The vets said that Stuart came in the nick of time, he was already so weak and could have succumbed to his condition any time then. But with fresh blood in his system, and the dog’s willingness to survive, he now had a fighting chance. The first 48 hours though, would be crucial. The medical team had him under constant observation.
Fortunately, the treatment worked. Within five days, Stuart showed a lot of progress. He became more active and started eating better. It was around this time too that a woman named Susan came to the medical facility and offered to take in Stuart as a foster.
Susan said that although Stuart was way better than when they first got him, the dog would spend much of its day sleeping. The pup seemed confused all the time and would just look and observe his surroundings. But after a week in Susan’s home, the dog started to come out of his shell. Stuart was also gaining a lot of weight.
As time passed, Stuart grew to become a playful and loving dog. He loved hanging out with the other dogs in Susan’s care. Then when Susan’s brother came to visit her, Stuart found his best friend.
Shane, Susan’s brother, felt an instant connection with the dog. And before his visit was done, he knew that he was going to adopt Stuart. Shane gave him a new name, Shiner, and took him home with him. He lives next to a dog park, and that’s where Shiner spends his time every day now.
From a small pup struggling to survive, Shiner now has tons of friends that he plays with. He is also a big handsome dog that loves to run around. And most of all, he has a new dad that loves him so much. To watch the video, click the link below.
