The HSUS, more popularly known as the Humane Society of the United States, is perhaps the most prominent non-profit organization that rescues animals in need. They have taken in hundreds of thousands of animals in hopes of giving them a better life. One of these animals is a neglected dog named Cassie.
The poor pooch was living in Kingman County in Kansas, and reports of her abuse and neglect arrived at the HSUS. They dispatched their Animal Rescue Team and retrieved Cassie. What they found was a scared pup with a severe skin condition. She had only patches of fur left, and her body was covered with painful and bloody scabs.
Cassie’s amazing transformation
When Cassie first arrived, the staff at the shelter noticed how frightened and confused she was. She was reserved and unsure of the people around her. Most of her life, she was living in the cellar surrounded by dirt and waste, devoid of human contact and affection. Having lots of people surrounding her, giving her attention and love was something she was not accustomed to.
But despite all that. they could see in Cassie’s beautiful blue eyes that she had the desire to live. So vets at the HSUS did everything they could to treat her various conditions. Cassie had numerous medicated baths and was given medication. She was also given a lot of attention to bring her out of her shell.
As time passed, her gorgeous fur started to grow. The scabs started to fall off, and her skin healed. She was also growing healthy too. And most of all, she has started to learn how to be a happy dog.
In the video below, you will see how Cassie’s character has changed so much. She now loves interacting and playing with people and other dogs. She also adores going on walks and, of course, getting belly rubs. This is the beginning of a new and promising life for Cassie.
